Challenges of Formulating Clean Cosmetics

Part 5 of our interview series is with Professor Samiul Amin and Foluso Adeosun from University of Miami. Samiul talks about the importance of rheology in cosmetics and the rheological challenges creating clean cosmetics, showing examples of emulsions with different formulations and yield StressStress is defined as a level of force applied on a sample with a well-defined cross section. (Stress = force/area). Samples having a circular or rectangular cross section can be compressed or stretched. Elastic materials like rubber can be stretched up to 5 to 10 times their original length.stress. Foluso provides a short demonstration of the Kinexus rotational rheometer and a yield StressStress is defined as a level of force applied on a sample with a well-defined cross section.
