Workshop Melbourne: Mastering Polymer Performance with Thermal Analysis and Rheology
Polymers can generally be divided into three main groups: thermoplastics, elastomers and thermosets. Their thermal properties are analyzed using thermoanalytical systems for product development, quality assurance, failure analysis, and process optimization. During processing, polymers are often heated to shape and then cooled to solidify, requiring an understanding of their temperature-dependent behaviour and flow properties. Functional additives and fillers are compounded into base polymers to achieve desired properties, and their effectiveness needs to be studied. Additionally, polymer products experience various temperature changes during their service life, necessitating knowledge of their thermal behaviour during the design phase. This workshop will explore how advanced thermal analysis and rheology instruments provide comprehensive insights into behaviour of your polymer materials. By combining techniques like Thermogravimetry (TGA), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), and rotational and capillary rheometry, you can gain valuable information on Thermal StabilityA material is thermally stable if it does not decompose under the influence of temperature.
