Viscous Modulus

The complex modulus (viscous component), loss modulus, or G’’, is the “imaginary” part of the samples the overall complex modulus. This viscous component indicates the liquid like, or out of phase, response of the sample being measurement.

It is automatically calculated in the rSpace software from, G’’ = G*.sin(delta), where G* = complex modulus and delta = phase angle.

The viscous modulus is commonly compared to the Elastic modulusThe complex modulus (elastic component), storage modulus, or G’, is the “real” part of the samples the overall complex modulus. This elastic component indicates the solid like, or in phase, response of the sample being measurement. elastic modulus which is measured simultaneously for the same sample loaded.
