Self-heating rate

A special kind of calorimeter device is used in order to detect the self-heating rate of a substance. The related method is called accelerating rate calorimetry (ARC®)

The sample is step-wise heated to an IsothermalTests at controlled and constant temperature are called isothermal.isothermal temperature using the so-called Tryb pomiaru Heat-Wait-Search (HWS)Heat-Wait-Search is a measurement mode used in calorimeter devices according to accelerating rate calorimetry (ARC).Heat-Wait-Search (Tryb pomiaru Heat-Wait-Search (HWS)Heat-Wait-Search is a measurement mode used in calorimeter devices according to accelerating rate calorimetry (ARC).HWS) mode. At each IsothermalTests at controlled and constant temperature are called isothermal.isothermal step, the rate of temperature change of the sample is monitored without input by the heaters of the calorimeter. If such a temperature increase is detected, it is described as self-heating of the sample. An exothermic Reakcja rozkładu (dekompozycji)A decomposition reaction is a thermally induced reaction of a chemical compound forming solid and/or gaseous products. decomposition reaction is detected as soon as the self-heating rate exceeds the Próg egzotermicznyThe exothermic threshold is a value for the self-heating rate of a sample (typically 0,02 K/min) which determines whether or not an exothermic event is detected within an experiment using a calorimeter device according to accelerated rate calorimetry (ARC). exothermic threshold (usually 0.02 K/min).
