From Measurement to Interpretation – Practical DSC Measurements and Data Evaluation
English

The second part of the webinar series focuses on practical application and data interpretation, guiding you through the complete DSC workflow – from starting a measurement to evaluating thermal effects with confidence.
You will learn how to set up and start DSC measurements using the NETZSCH Proteus® software in both ExpertMode and SmartMode. Step by step, we demonstrate how to create measurement methods, customize experimental parameters, and efficiently program the Automatic Sample Changer (ASC) for optimized laboratory workflows.
The second half of the webinar is dedicated to the evaluation of DSC results. After an introduction to measurement evaluation and the theoretical background of thermal effects, we take a closer look at melting, Glass Transition TemperatureThe glass transition is one of the most important properties of amorphous and semi-crystalline materials, e.g., inorganic glasses, amorphous metals, polymers, pharmaceuticals and food ingredients, etc., and describes the temperature region where the mechanical properties of the materials change from hard and brittle to more soft, deformable or rubbery.glass transition, and crystallization phenomena. Using a PET sample as a practical example, we show both manual and automatic evaluation procedures, highlighting best practices and common challenges.
By the end of this session, you will have a comprehensive understanding of how to perform DSC measurements and interpret results professionally. Combined with Part 1, this webinar will help you unlock the full potential of Differential Scanning Calorimetry and confidently apply it in your daily work.
