NETZSCH Installs First 2800°C Thermophysical Property Analyzer in Oceania

The Australian Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG), an Australian Government Department, works closely with the Australian science, technology and innovation eco-system to deliver scientific advice and solutions that provide capability enhancement for Defence and the national security community.

In September, NETZSCH and DSTG Platforms Division Team led by Dr. Wyman Zhuang in Melbourne commissioned the first ultra-high-temperature thermophysical property analyzer in Oceania. The NETZSCH LFA 427 Laser Flash Apparatus commissioned in DSTG, allows the determination of material Thermal DiffusivityThermal diffusivity (a with the unit mm2/s) is a material-specific property for characterizing unsteady heat conduction. This value describes how quickly a material reacts to a change in temperature.thermal diffusivity and conductivity from room temperature to 2800°C, utilizing a pyrometer for furnace temperature control and sample temperature measurement.
