STA 449 F3 Nevio

The STA 449 F3 Nevio runs under Proteus^® Software on Windows®. Through the combination of easy-to-understand menus and automated routines, a tool has been created that is extremely user-friendly and, at the same time, allows sophisticated analysis. The Proteus^® software is licensed with the instrument and can of course be installed on other computer systems.

Features concerning TGA plus DSC:

• Proteus^® Protect (option) - meeting the requirements of 21 CFR Part 11 and EU Annex 11
• AutoEvaluation - autonomous and user-independent evaluation of thermal effects
• Identify (option) - curve recognition and database system for library search purpose
• SuperPosition - Simulation of the thermal behavior of physical mixtures by overlapping the curves of the mixture components incl. freely selectable mass ratios
• Average curves - absolute (taking the sample masses of the various measurement s into account) or relative (applies just the number of measurements as denominator)
• Report generator - based on a Microsoft Word plug-in each operator can easily create his own report template for reports – including logos, tables, description fields and plots.

TGA-specific evaluation features:

• Mass changes in wt% or mg
• Determination of residual mass
• Extrapolated onset and end temperatures
• Peak temperatures of the 1^st and 2^nd derivative of the mass-change curve

Different sample properties need different crucible materials/types. Therefore, a variety of sample crucibles (pans) made of alumina, platinum, aluminum, graphite, fused silica, etc. is available in different sizes.

Specific Furnaces for Specific Tasks

Due to its modular concept the STA can be equipped with standard furnaces for various temperature ranges but also with special furnaces - either alone or in combination by using a double hoisting device.

For TGA measurements under defined relative humidity the copper furnace plus the humidity generator can be applied. Regarding higher water concentrations (up to 100% water vapor) it is possible to use the water vapor furnace in combination with the water vapor generator.

The high speed furnace which can realize heating rates up to 1000 K/min is designed for TGA experiments as well.

ASC - for Continous Operation

The automatic sample changer works day and night, giving you time for other tasks, and provides for optimal use of the STA 449 F3 Nevio (e.g. calibrations on the weekend).

A carousel is available for up to 20 sample and reference crucibles (pans) which can be automatically run in any order. The controlled generation of the required gas atmosphere in the sample chamber and cooling are automatic.

Of course, each sample can be assigned an individual measurement and evaluation procedure.

PulseTA^®

With the PulseTA^® technique an exactly defined quantity of gas is injected to the purge gas of the thermobalance (TGA) or the simultaneous thermal analysis instrument (STA).

This clearly increases the measuring possibilities:

• Defined/incremental chemical reactions or adsorption of the injection gas with the sample
• Quantification of gases evolved from the sample.
